PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds Raffle Baskets

W O W !!!!!
MOTM 2019 is going to find the parrotheads, in attendance  B-U-S-Y!! The musical lineups for the annual phlocking is phantastic.   We hope you’ve enjoyed all of the phestivities that the summer has offered –  but have saved energy for the super, fantastic lineup at MOTM.

1)  music every day, all day at the Casa
2)  great shopping at the mini mart
3)  great variety of gift baskets for a great basket raffle

Commercial Break
Speaking of baskets for the basket raffle, we hope that you’ve had the chance to talk with your committee members, club members, people on the street, and anybody that will listen to you, about donating a basket to the MOTM basket raffle.  In past years, we have had such a great & wide variety of baskets available for people to purchase raffle tickets for & are sure that this year will be no different.   The basket that your club donates allows you to brag about your club, state, area & your members – so why not let the rest of the phlock see what you are so proud of. There will be shipping information in our next update.

And now back to our “regular programming”

As you’ve noticed from the previous e-mails from Andrew, this year there will be an increase in the amount of music at the Casa & times of operations of the mini mart, which will also mean an increase in the time to shop, enjoy the venue & shop some more.  That being said,  we find that the Gift Basket Raffle table will be in need of a few more volunteer ticket sellers to better serve the needs of our wonderful MOTM attendees.  As in the past we will be offering flexibility on shifts, ability to sell tickets during registration, selling tickets on The Casa grounds (which will allow you to enjoy the music, the great Florida weather and the many other activities including the blood drive & group pictures); heck you may even find other volunteer activities that are of interest to you – – you just never know.  If you have the time to help, we have a place for you.

If you have any questions, please contact us!

President’s Notes May 2019

“IF WE COULDN’T LAUGH, WE WOULD ALL GO INSANE!” So true from every perspective and especially at our 16th Annual Beach Bike Poker Run. We laughed and even cackled, yet some of us still went insane. What a great day of making history! We’re donating $20,000 to Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp, bringing the total funding from EIPHC since 2014 to $67,050 to help change the lives of military children.

This is a huge event and I love watching it unfold every year. I’m so excited that it’s hard to reign in everything I want to share with you! Let’s start by throwing out a few facts you may not know. The day started with a clean-up crew at the E-Club at 7 a.m., giving everything outside a thorough cleaning from top to bottom, arranging furniture, posting signs and much more! The day progressed with folks selling t-shirts, registering our guests, preparing and selling raffle tickets, judging bikes, gathering and selecting winning poker hands, and assisting with the silent auction and door prizes. Card sharks were everywhere greeting the players, monitoring the poker cards and making sure folks had a good time. Also, behind the scenes and well before the event date, volunteers were generating donations, making deliveries, running errands, sorting and packaging silent auction items, making copies, designing and putting out signs, and lots more! While this is not an all-inclusive list, it should give you an idea of why I am so proud to be a part of this A+ team of over 65 volunteers! We couldn’t make this event a reality without their huge commitment and active contribution!

Bear with me just a little longer. Our surrounding community also stepped up to the plate and supported us and our cause in every way possible with 8 establishments participating in the run, 21 businesses graciously serving as corporate sponsors, and 48 local business and individuals donating cash, door prizes, and silent auction items! Our phlock is fortunate to be located among such a caring family of businesses and individuals in our area. They make us look good!

And finally, I want to thank all of you who showed up for the event, brought your bicycle, spent your money, shared your smile and experienced a good time with new and old friends during your ride! I hope each one of you will join us again next year where we can start this madness all over again! Hope to see you soon at our next event! Take care and continue to “Party with a Purpose!” Jan Hicks

BEACH BICYCLE POKER RUN A HUGE SUCCESS!

WOW – $20,000 RAISED IN THE 16TH ANNUAL BEACH BICYCLE POKER RUN.  Yes, that is right, we topped last year’s total by $5000.  Every year, the event has been more successful thanks to dedicated Parrot Heads who plan, scheme and energize the PHlock and the community to raise fun/funds and Party with a Purpose.  A new highest ever total of riders, 311 crazy people having fun and spending money for a great cause.  All of the money raised goes to Semper Fi Fund to send children of wounded Marines and sailors to summer camp for a week, along with a high school student/mentor who will work with that child for a year.  These funds are used for local children only and we have been so pleased with the feedback we get from Semper Fi, we know the funds we raise make a huge difference!  Check out our newsletter next month for more details, and pictures (we hope to get some up on Facebook and on the website in the next few weeks.) A huge flap of the wings go out to our big bird James Hicks and the committee who made this happen.  Our card sharks worked hard and this could not happen with out them.  Hope  you all had fun!

YOUR PHiP Meeting of the Minds Update

Hello Everyone!
Here is YOUR update on PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill” in Key West, Florida!
Well here we are… it’s already the month of May! Jimmy Buffett concerts are happening and people are registering and booking travel for the 28th annual PHiP Meeting of the Minds in Key West!
Behind The Scenes There Is A Ton of Team Work Happening To Support The Event!
I want to tell you that even though you only hear a report every few weeks things are brewing to make PHiP’s MOTM 2019 one to remember but is that anything new? Everyone MOTM is special. I cannot share details yet as plans are in the works and special segment embellishments are being planned but you need to be in Key West for this one! You can see the online schedule https://www.phip.com/meeting-schedule which is a great entertainment deal already…and all the way until the day of the start of the event things will be in the works that will deliver way more entertainment than you paid for and you can take my word for it. I just had an hour-long call with Tall Paul yesterday about the 2019 Beachside Album Hour on Saturday at PHiP’s MOTM where the Jimmy Buffett album “License to Chill” will be played from beginning to end. I know you are familiar with that one and you can only imagine how many guests there will be with backing from most of the Coral Reefer Band as well as other guest musicians. You have to be registered to see all these special events at the Casa Marina!
Here is the link to register for the 28th edition of PHiP’s ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MINDS 2019:

PHiP’s MOTM Charity Gift Basket Raffle

Here is a note from our charity raffle basket leadership team of Joe and Lorene: By now we’ve sent out an e-mail to all clubs and we hope you’ve had the opportunity to discuss it with your committees.  The e-mail was concerning a gift basket donation representing your club to the PHiP’s MOTM charity gift basket raffle. As you may or may not be aware all monies raised from the ticket sales for the gift basket raffle are donated to charities in the Key West area as we have no expenses thanks to our generous volunteers. There are many deserving charities and that makes the decision by the PHiP board more challenging but they take on this daunting task at the conclusion of each year’s MOTM and deserving charities benefit. We can’t say this enough, but we do want to say it one more time. Between the wonderful basket donations and the MOTM basket raffle volunteers with their dedication to hard work and the fun that we have when we get together as we  PARTY WITH A PURPOSE the gift basket raffle is something that we so look forward to being involved with each and every year. We want to thank each and every one of you in advance. QUESTIONS?  If you’ve got ‘em, please don’t hesitate to ask ‘em. we may not know all the answers but we do know who to ask. Here is our email contact below.
