“Hawaiian Luau” is happening at the Emerald Club on Friday August 4 at 7 to celebrate our 21st Birthday! Matt Morell is our Big Bird and is throwing a “whale” of a party starting with great food, island cocktails, music by Brian Felton, and some of our favorite games!!! We’ll be throwing out special treats all night long.  Wear something tropical, hula skirts, flowered shirts, hats or anything that represents a night in the tropics.  This phlocking is open to the public.  Join us and become a new member!

July is here and nothing says summer better than Beer, Baseball, and Beach Bums! Our Parrot Head Phlocking will be Friday, July 7 at 7:00 pm. It’s a Baseball Theme so come ready to “Play Ball”! I know you Parrot Heads need another excuse to wear those cool Wood Duck Jerseys or your favorite baseball team shirt or hat. If you don’t dress for baseball; just come as a Beach Bum!  Our host, Donna Grady has some fun activities planned as we raise money for the Carteret Community Theatre in memory of Jaime Long. Bring plenty of cash for donations, 50/50 and a chance to throw a pie in the face of our “infamous” mayor, Jason Holland and a few other local celebrities. Don’t forget to sign up for the Wood Ducks Beer and Baseball trip to Kinston on July 15! Seats are going fast!

Big Bird, Cindy New, has reserved 2 big buses for our trip to the Kinston Wood Ducks Game at Grainger Stadium and the private party on the second floor at Mother Earth Pavilion which includes our game tickets, Cheeseburger/Hot Dog buffet, and a tropical event jersey! We have invited the Pirates of the Neuse Parrot Head Club to join us on the buses.

Prior to the game, the buses will drop us off at Mother Earth Brewing where we can partake of our favorite beer flavors or hop on 2 free shuttles running from Mother Earth Brewing to various bars and other historical sites in downtown Kinston. These bars love Parrot Heads and often include special drinks and/or appetizers. Watch for online registration soon.

Hello Parrotheads!  It’s January 2023, and that means we get together as “The Phlock” to plan the New Year.  I am excited to discuss the success of 2022 and what adventures are ahead of us in 2023!  The best way to get to know your fellow parrot heads  starts with attending this meeting.  I hope to see you there!

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

“PHluff up the PHlock” Invitation, Tuesday, January 10, 6 PM

As a member of the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club,  you are invited to attend EIPHC’s PHLUFF UP THE PHLOCK annual membership meeting at 6 pm on Tuesday, January 10. The PHluffing will be held at the home of Lois Gray at 6717 Ocean Dr., Emerald Isle, NC, and pre-registration is unnecessary. Come as you are! There is plenty of meeting space and an elevator available. The focus of the meeting is to elect our 2023 Board members and Members at Large and to plan our events and monthly phlockings for the New Year!  This is your opportunity to serve on the Board, volunteer for a “Big Bird” position, be a committee member, suggest a new event or just VOICE your opinion!

Our BYLAWS contain the description and qualification for each position and can be reviewed at www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com on the MENU entitled “Membership.” Be advised that our meeting is casual and open-minded. New and fresh ideas are welcomed!

Phluff Up the Phlock

 Annual Membership Meeting

January 10, 2023

The annual meeting of the “Phluff Up the Phlock” Membership Meeting will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 6 pm, in the home of Lois Gray, 6717 Ocean Drive, Emerald Isle, NC.  All club members are invited.  If you have not already paid your dues, you may pay them at the meeting.

The main purpose of the meeting is to select and vote upon members for the Board of Directors and Members at Large, and to schedule major events and the people (Big Birds) to head up each one. Please review our BYLAWS at www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com for information and qualifications of officers prior to the meeting. They are found in the Menu, under “Membership.”

In addition, attendees will be given the Annual Report by Betty Strader, turned in each year to PHIP, Inc., which will reflect all events, monies donated for each, and grand totals for 2022 donations.  Among others, we will also hear from Joel Dunn regarding our technical capabilities, including Website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

2022 has been an exciting year for our Club and next year will be here before we know it. If you are interested in being a part of 2023 as an Officer, Big Bird, Committee Chairman, or Phlocking Big Bird, please join us! If you just want to come and be a part of the planning, you are welcome. A  list of Board Members and Members at Large are listed on our Website and in any of our 2022 Newsletters.
