Jimmy Buffett’s very first SiriusXM Artist Confidential

Music December 19, 2016 Author: Kirsten Winquist

Hello! Kirsten Winquist here from Radio Margaritaville. I am so excited to share Jimmy Buffett’s very first SiriusXM Artist Confidential on Radio Margaritaville TODAY at 5pm Eastern and Pacific! (you can see the full re-play schedule below)

A little behind the scenes on this session…our SiriusXM performance theater is lovingly called “the fishbowl” by staffers. It’s called this because it’s a 20’ x 20’ space enclosed entirely by glass and yes, we managed to fit Jimmy, the entire Coral Reefer Band PLUS instruments and ME into that small space. Now, despite the glass and the tight fit, Continue reading Jimmy Buffett’s very first SiriusXM Artist Confidential

Urban Meyer on the Coconut Podcast

December 19, 2016
Author: Heikki Larsen

The Real Football Network is escaping to the Margaritaville state of mind for the Coconut Podcast called Margaritaville Football. As Jimmy Buffett’s tour traveled across the country this year, production coordinator Heikki Larsen sat down with football personalities to talk sports, music, living the Margaritaville lifestyle and more. Heikki’s guest this week is Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Urban Meyer. Read more about Heikki’s backstage interview with Coach Meyer here:

If you’ve ever seen Coach Urban Meyer on the sidelines, you’ve seen intensity. Having met him on a few occasions now, I can say that intensity is an energy that follows him throughout his day. It’s why I was a little nervous backstage this past summer in Cincinnati. On his one day off of the year, Coach Meyer was coming to the Jimmy Buffett concert and had agreed to do an interview for Margaritaville Football.

Parrothead Captains do well in Swansboro Flotilla!

Emerald Isle Parrotheads Captain Jason Holland and Captain Joel Dunn each took home a prize this year in the annual Swansboro Christmas Flotilla. This event is held each year on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year the weather was warm and pleasant, so thousands of people flocked to Swansboro for the event, lining the waterfront and the White Oak River bridge.

Captain Jason and crew took 3rd place in the large boat category (22 feet and over), with a Christmas Smiley Face with Christmas trees and tons of white lights on his 24′ pontoon, and Captain Joel and crew took 2nd (to the usual winner, the Swan) in the small boat category (21 feet and under) on the Defined Benefit, a 21′ center console, with the Christmas by the Sea (sea creatures around a Christmas tree).

LONGEST DAY WALK FOR ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION

IMG_4589-LGentle Reminder to those who plan on walking for this event next weekend.  If you can’t walk, please consider donating by going to the link below.  Most of us know someone affected by Alzheimer’s.  Parrot Head Clubs around the world do fundraisers for Alzheimer’s, lets do the same!

If you are a Parrot Head and plan on walking, please register on the EIPHC team with the link below and also let Susan Smith know so she can schedule your time.  If you have not registered but have contacted Susan, please do the registration now and then see if you can get others to sponsor you.

Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Crawl – .  The goal of this event is to have a person or several walking the beach from sunrise to sunset in relay fashion.  If you are interested in walking on the Longest Day please send an email with preferred time of day and area you want to walk to Susan Smith ( Parrot Head )  at susan.seadreams@gmail.com.

Since the goal of this event is to not only bring awareness to Alzheimer’s but to raise money for research and to provide services to those affected by Alzheimer’s, there are several ways that Parrot Heads can help.  First of all sign up with Susan to walk.  For every Parrot Head that walks, the Club will donate $10.  You can also get others to sponsor you and raise even more money.   If you can’t walk that day, you can make a direct donation to the total funds raised by the Parrot Head team instead.  Anyone can log onto the Parrot Head Team Page by using his link. http://act.alz.org/goto/EIPHC

Walkers should log on to the site and send information to friends, relatives and neighbors, so they can donate as well. Even if you are a Sea Turtle Volunteer and walk, if you are a Parrot Head, the Club will still donate $10 for each Parrot Head Team member. Last year we had 30 walkers and donated $300. Let’s see if we can top that.  All donations go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association.

An added benefit to making a donation is a chance to win a stay at Batten the Breeze courtesy of Emerald Isle Realty.  With each donation of $50 or more, you will be entered into a drawing for the 3 day stay.

There will also be a fundraiser at Loon Street Art Studio in Emerald Isle where you can paint a sea turtle hatchling.  The class is $50 with $15 donated to the EI Sea Turtle Crawl team.

An special message from our President….President Holland that is

13179468_1261201930557423_7055670777375314466_nHello all!!! It’s that time again! Our annual beach bike poker run is Saturday May 21st. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see everybody and put on the biggest Poker Run ever to benefit the Semper Fi Odyssey Kids Camp!  I’d like to invite everyone out to the Emerald club Friday, May 20th from 8 to 11 for a special pregame warm-up. One of our favorite local bands, Big Drink will be there playing all our favorite songs. This show, unfortunately, will be different as they recently lost their drummer, Prentice “Jay” Tyndall unexpectedly at age 45. Friday night, Big Drink will be offering their CD’s during the performance for a donation to Jay’s family and Jessi and I will be there running one of our famed 50/50 raffles. The winning ticket will receive half of money raised with the other half going to Jay’s family to help them with expenses. Emerald Club owner Matt Morel  has even arranged to have some food there. I think it’s a great opportunity for us to gear up for Saturday’s event while showing support for our local community. After all, it is what we do best! If you are unable to come out Friday night but still interested in supporting Jay’s family you can contact me directly via email at president@emeraldisleparrotheads.com or call 919-623-0653. I hope to see you Friday and Saturday and I’m looking forward to another awesome poker run. Take care!
