President’s Notes September 2020

Now Fall has arrived and it’s time to pick the perfect pumpkin, beware of candy corn, turn off your air conditioner, raise the windows, put the bathing suit away and pull out your old warm sweaters and sweatpants! You can enjoy the cool crisp air and the leaves dressed in orange, red, and yellow.  Fall is a wonderful time of the year!  Make the most of it with your PHamily and PHriends and be thankful!

Though it has been a tough year for the Parrot Heads, nothing has dampened our spirits and our ability to make people who are strangers into PHriends, work together in community service, join in charitable contributions and assist in community based ventures. This has been demonstrated on many levels by many individuals and businesses. We remain a “Phlock” locked together by our love for one another and our surroundings. Thank you to all involved!

Be sure to join us for the October PHlash PHlocking, the Trolley Car Happy Hour in November, and a virtual Santa Crawl Dinner/Party in December.  Details on these events can be found in our Newsletter as well as by visiting www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com and on our Facebook page. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we try to organize and manage these events.  As you know, sometimes unforeseen things get in the way and our best-laid plans are no longer. We will try hard to keep you up to date!  Miss you much! Remember to “Party with a Purpose” every chance you get! Jan H, President

ATTENTION PLEASE! YOU CAN HELP SALLY HURRICANE VICTIMS!

The Swansboro Rotary Club is collecting donations to fill a 58 ft. tractor trailer for victims in Alabama of the Cat 2 Hurricane.  The storm flooded neighborhoods, submerged homes, and left thousands without power. So many came from far away to help us out following Florence and this presents us with an opportunity to “give back.”  The donations will be shipped on Friday to Baldwin County, near Gulf Shores of Alabama.

Jason Holland of Movement Mortgage AT 309 MANGROVE DRIVE (K&V SHOPPING CTR) has volunteered his office for collection of the donated goods beginning today September 21 through Thursday at 12 noon.  All goods donated by EIPHC will be loaded and transferred  to the Rotary Club Thursday afternoon. Please be sure you bring your items before noon on Thursday, September 23.  Here is the list: Collections officials ask that water and clothes are NOT DONATED.

ITEMS THAT CAN BE DONATED AT MOVEMENT MORTAGE:  Peanut butter and Jelly, toothpaste, contractor bags, ziploc bags, diapers, tarps,  paper products, bug spray, button nails,  dog food, cat food, disinfectant supplies, baby wipes, paper towels, toilet paper, D and C batteries, flashlights.

Come on Parrot Heads, let’s spread the love….

HIGHWAY PICKUP EVENT-THIS SATURDAY, SEPT 19!!!

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN,  SAT., SEPT. 19,  11AM, E-CLUB PARKING LOT!!! Our phriend, Jean Jensen, is back and he’s ready for our help picking up litter and whatever else shows up as trash on our stretch of Hwy 58.  So let’s get to work and do our best to make this a fast and easy project to beautify our community. Jean has the tools, bags and gloves but you may also bring your own if you prefer.  Thanks phlock!  Let’s see how many bags we can gather!
