President’s Notes April 2020
Wow, what a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I’m ready to get out there and work in the yard, take a walk, sit in the sun with some beach tunes playing and later grilling some hamburgers. This is good stuff ya’ll!
As you already know, it’s better to look at what we CAN DO, rather than what we CAN’T! You guys prove it every day with numerous photos shared in the media reflecting your creativity and hope. I enjoy your sharing of new recipes, freshly coated paint jobs, gardens just planted, walkers on trails and beaches and much more. We enjoy each other through FaceTime, emails, the media, social distancing, virtual meetings and more! Clearly, we are making the best of this mess and know that we’ll be together again. And, when we do find that day, we’ll appreciate everything and everybody so much more! Even though we are apart, we will remain strong and united as a Parrot Head Nation and together we will rock no matter who we are or where we’re from! PHINZ UP and STAY SAFE! Jan H., Pres.
2020 Scholarship Announces The Chance For This One Week Vacation

You can be the lucky winner of a Margaritaville Island Reserve all-inclusive One Week vacation in Riviera Maya!
This year Ultimate Vacations has graciously donated a week long trip to help benefit the PHiP scholarship.
You can buy these tickets individually or as a club donation to the scholarship (domino college recognition) and use this great prize for your fundraiser. DETAILS OF THE TRIP ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.
Please pass this information around to all your club members. All are eligible to win whether they are going to MOTM or not.

Parrot Heads in Paradise have been awarding qualified parrot heads and their children a total of $10,000 in scholarships every year for the last 11 years. Fundraising has been just keeping pace with our pay-outs each year and we want to add some additional funds to ensure future years’ have adequate funding. To make sure that we can continue to award these gifts well into the future we have come up with a great way to help that cause. Ultimate Vacations has donated a week long trip for two to raffle off this year. We will be selling tickets via PayPal or check going through October and until 2:30 at MOTM. We will draw for the trip Saturday, October 31st from the stage at Meeting of the Minds for the eight day/seven night all-inclusive trip. Winners do not need to be present at MOTM to win the trip! Tickets are five for $20 or five dollars for one. I will send you via email with a list of your numbers so you have them for your records. HERE ARE THE DRAWING WINNERS FOR PHiP’s MEETING OF THE MINDS 2020!
For the four FREE nights in a two bedroom suite at the Casa Marina we have a winner! You had to be registered for PHiP’s MOTM 2020 and have booked a reservation at the Casa Marina by April 1st to be in this drawing. The lucky winners are Brian and Robin Aslakson of Freemont, Michigan. They are both members of the Virtual Parrot Head Club. It pays to register early and stay at the Casa Marina Resort!
Next! For the 2 concert tickets and hospitality passes to see JIMMY BUFFETT AND THE CORAL REEFER BAND show in a city of your choice in the USA or Canada during the 2020 tour courtesy of MARGARITAVILLE FOODS! THE CASA MARINA IS SOLD OUT WITH A WAIT LIST
The Casa Marina is sold-out with a wait list being built at the Reach Resort. This is great news for our event. If you want to be on the list for a Casa Marina room if we get cancellations here is the method:
The 2020 MOTM Wait List for the Casa Marina – Here are the 3 steps below:
1. Register for Meeting of the Minds 2020.
REMEMBER YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR MEETING OF THE MINDS 2020 TO STAY AT THE CASA MARINA OR BE ON THE WAIT LIST FOR THE CASA.
2. Book your room at the Reach Resort. While our awesome Parrot Head rate is only valid at the Casa Marina the Reach is offering a discount to our group this year. This Reach Resort rate will not be as low as the Casa rate but there is a booking discount for MOTM Parrot Heads. There are some Casa Marina cancellations every year so booking early will put you up the list as we do go in order to move people over as vacancy happens through the year. This can happen right up to the event so give the hotel your cell number not your home number for contact!
3. Email our MOTM Director of Registration Kathy Kaz at motmkathykaz@gmail.com Put in the title of your email “PHiP’s MOTM Casa Marina Wait List.” Tell Kathy you are booked at the Reach and registered for PHiP’s MOTM. Kathy will add you to the Casa Marina wait list in the order in which you contact her.
We have to fill the Casa Marina so we will work very hard to move everyone we can as cancellations occur. We will be working down the order in which you reply to Kathy Kaz. Sorry for any confusion but it is best to manage this list through Kathy vs. contacting the hotel.
