The EIPHC Beach Bike Poker Run “Big Birds” have been hard at work planning this years FANTASTIC EVENT. The Poker Run is the Parrot Heads’ biggest fundraiser of the year and a great opportunity to experience how we “Party with a Purpose” here on Emerald Isle. This year’s Poker Run will be held on Saturday, May 20th. This is an ADULT ONLY event! Proceeds from the event will go the the Semper Fi Odyssey Children’s Adventure Camp which sends children of injured Marines and Sailors to camp for a week and then provides them with mentoring support throughout their school year. Last years event raised $7200 and brought in 230 riders. The entry fee is $20 and there will be cash prizes for the best poker hand. Prizes will also be awarded for best decorated bikes and costumes in each of the theme categories. This year’s themes are: PHeathered PHriends, PHriends of the Sea and PHoo-PHoo Drinks. Our newly designed EIPHC T-Shirts will also be unveiled and available for purchase. STAY TUNED for additional information concerning sponsors, prizes and event day detail…..COMING SOON!! Join Us For A New Member Social
The Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club will be sponsoring a new member social on April 26th at the Island Time Tavern (across from Rucker Johns in Emerald Plantations.) It will be held from 6 to 9 PM. We are inviting all new members who have joined since October, 2016, but all members are invited. You will be responsible for your drinks, but the club will provide pizza. In order to make sure, we order adequate pizza, you will need to sign up at the April Meeting or contact Sue or Maggie. Email invitations will be sent out to all new members who have joined in the past 6 months.
Bonnets and Bowties
Our April Phlocking will be held Friday, April 7th at the Emerald Club. Spring is upon us and it’s time to put on your best Bonnet or Bowtie and join us for some Springtime Shenanigans. There will be some fun seasonal games and our 50/50 drawing will provide a donation to the Crystal Coast Autism Center in honor of Autism Awareness Month. As always the E CLub will provide us with some yummy food and great drink specials. Non-members are welcome and of course we’ll encourage you to join! You may have heard that EIPHC is currently 8th in WORLD for number of memberships and we’d really like to continue to move up!! So come on out and see what we’re all about…..we guarantee that you’ll wonder why it took you so long to join us!! Members be sure to check at the membership table for upcoming volunteer opportunities. We’re looking forward to a FANTASTIC turnout and seeing everyone there!!
Saint Patty’s day festival round up
Hello fellow parrot heads. Just a short update on our booth for the festival…just in case you didnt all ready know we raised $1600 for the beach wheel chair!!! Event was a huge success. Just want to say THANK YOU!! to everyone who donated items (awesome stuff)and those who volunteered time to help us achieve success. The Meeting of the Minds entertainment schedule will be published in April. There are a few contracts and details being finalized as this update is going to press. Stand by for more information but get registered for the awesome ticket drawing!! There are less than two weeks until we announce the winners for 2017!
The Casa Marina Remains Sold Out!
We are still sold out at the Casa Marina but we are collecting names for the wait list as some level of cancellations will always happen and we need to keep the hotel sold out! If you want to be on the wait list just follow the steps below:
The 2017 MOTM Wait List for the Casa Marina – Here are the 3 steps below:
1. Register for Meeting of the Minds 2017.
REMEMBER YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR MEETING OF THE MINDS 2017 TO STAY AT THE CASA MARINA OR BE ON THE WAIT LIST FOR THE CASA.
2. Book your room at the Reach Resort. While our awesome Parrot Head rate is only valid at the Casa Marina the Reach is offering a discount to our group this year. This Reach Resort rate will not be as low as the Casa rate but it is a booking discount. There are some Casa Marina cancellations every year so booking early will put you up the list as we do go in order to move people over as vacancy happens through the year. This can happen right up to the event so give the hotel your cell number not your home number for contact!
3. Email our MOTM Director of Registration Rick Fyffe at rjfyffe1@ymail.com
Put in the title of your email “MOTM Casa Marina Wait List.” Tell Rick you are booked at the Reach and registered for MOTM. Rick will add you to the Casa Marina wait list in the order in which you contact him.
We have to fill the Casa Marina so we will work very hard to move everyone we can as cancellations occur. We will be working down the order in which you reply to Rick Fyffe. Sorry for any confusion but it is best to manage this list through Rick vs. contacting the hotel.

Parrot Heads in Paradise Scholarship Essay Contest
It’s that time of year again for the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest, and we want to let members know of this great opportunity.
We are proud to announce that the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest for 2017 is NOW OPEN!!!!!!
Summary of the PHiP Scholarship:
The PHiP Scholarship is for current Parrot Head Club Members of an officially Chartered Chapter or their children or wards of Parrot Head Club Members, for post secondary education.
This program was established in 2008. Three scholarships will be awarded in 2017. The funds may be used for tuition, books or living expenses, at an accredited four-year university or college of the student’s choice. The award will be paid to the winners’ school account, when a student account is established.
PHiP awards 3 awards in the amounts of:
First Place: $5,000
Second Place: $3,000
Third Place: $2,000
Eligibility: Parrot Head Club Members and members children (Sorry nieces, nephews or other extended family members beyond those mentioned are not considered eligible)
