President’s Notes, February 2022

How much do you really know about Jimmy Buffett?

Jimmy was born on Christmas Day in 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He grew up in Mobile, Alabama, went to Catholic High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. After college, he headed to Nashville where he chased women and fame.

His musical success came after his move to Key West in the early 1970’s, where he fell in love with the sea and developed a laid-back, island style attitude while playing in bars for drinks and tips. He claimed that he “almost” decided to support himself illegally by working with drug runners. Instead, Jimmy wisely elected to leave Florida and started singing about Florida.

“Margaritaville” became Buffett’s biggest hit way back in 1977 and his signature song, and the inspiration for his whole brand. He is one of the most recognized and loved figures in popular music and has been for decades. Jimmy could now buy his own island!

Parrot Heads all over the world have adopted Jimmy’s tropical lifestyle. We “party with a purpose.” We are social to the bone and work hard to leave the world a better place than how we found it! We offer an alternative to “everyday” life. Become a member and join in our phun at www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com or attend one of our monthly Friday night phlockings and check out the membership table. We would love to see you! Phins Up! Since we did not meet in January, collection of dues is extended to March 15. All 2022 dues must be paid by March 15. It doesn’t matter what month you joined because our dues are only $10.00 per person and we do not pro-rate them.  There are three ways to pay your dues.

Method 1 – Use our website to renew, emeraldisleparrotheads.com. Use the Click here to Join or Renew picture (or click this link!) and follow the directions. You do not fill out a form to renew. There is a 61 cent fee that you need to add to your $10.00 for each membership being renewed. This is the fee to PayPal. Also, you do not need to have a PayPal account. Any credit card can be used.

Method 2- Renew your membership through the mail. Send check to

Emerald Isle Parrot Heads
PO Box 4293
Emerald Isle, NC 28594-4293

Method 3- Pay your dues at the March 4th Phlocking.

Please remember that if dues are paid later than March 15 you will have to rejoin the club and fill out the form again. Our data base will be updated shortly after March 15 to reflect current paid memberships. Our club dues are lower than any other club.

After paying a small amount of each membership to the National Parrot Head Club, we use the rest to run projects to help the community.
