President’s Notes December 2021

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! The 2021 Island Santa Bar Crawl was a stunning success! We will be presenting a check to Make a Wish, Eastern North Carolina, for $30,350! As President, I am humbled by the generosity of all who participated in this weekend celebration! The weather was beautiful, and your support was enormous. I am so thankful for the opportunity to see you all every year. Please keep coming! I would like to take a moment of your time and share with you the volunteers who made this happen!

Big Birds, Moh Traini and Jimi Crampton, for their endless hours of dedication and service to this project. Moh claims that she is only a gopher, but we all know that is not true. She is vital to “getting the job done!”

Matt Morel, owner of the Emerald Club, and Paul Musco, owner of 34 North Bar of Cedar Point, for their time and money invested and the great service provided by their staff. These two venues were critical to the success of the weekend!

Will & Tony Show for donating their talents in providing free rocking tunes throughout the 34 North event

Kathy Ruge for sharing her “Birthday Celebration Wishes” donations.

Georgia Ricks for the “Wish Your Way Fundraising” at her Annual Christmas Bash.

Each of the Bloody Mary Makers and their contributing supporters. We learned a new way to “Party with a Purpose.”

Jason Holland, our talented and fearless auctioneer, and all who assisted him.

Donors of door prizes and priceless items to the crawl raffle and live auction, including the Swag of Adams Distributors.

Joel Dunn and Carl Rauchenburg for the technology involved in making online registration possible.

James Hicks, my dear husband for his moral support from beginning to end, with at least 10 trips to the storage room, hauling me and my STUFF back and forth.

Maggie Rauschenberg and all of those who helped her with the registration of over 350 participants.

Rita Babich and our raffle teams.

Carol Lauback for detailed financial tracking and Cris Lauback for his excellent photographing of the weekend events.

Our fabulous 7 stops, Surf’s Up, Trading Post, Beach Bums, Shark’s Den, Island Time Tavern, The Growler and Gaffer’s, for allowing us to be crazy while we partied, and for their caring and patient staff.

So many “behind the scenes” volunteers for copying, cutting, running errands, putting up and taking down signs, assisting at the “big ticket raffle” and the “live auction,” distributing literature, and more!

The EIPHC Board is grateful to each of these volunteers who collectively contributed over 100 hours of service to the weekend events and for MAW. It is comforting to know that children and their families will see their wishes come true as a result of our efforts. Job well done everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Phins Up Ya’ll! Jan H, President

ISBC 2021 Grand Totals Top $30,000

The Island Santa Bar Crawl 2021 was held the first weekend in December. This event is held annually and benefits Make a Wish of Eastern NC. This year’s event included a Christmas Pajama Party at the EIPHC monthly Phlocking on Friday, the Island Santa Bar Crawl on Saturday, and a Bloody Mary Contest and Auction on Sunday. There were also several private parties held by local individuals to fundraise for this great cause during Crawl Week. This year’s event raised $30,350.00 for Make a Wish. This donation will help grant wishes for critically ill children in our area of the state. The Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club is extremely proud to be a part of this annual fundraising effort
Big Birds, Moh Traini and Jimi Crampton along with EIPHC President Jan Hicks would like to thank everyone who made this event such a BIG success. The ISBC 2021 stops included: Surf’s Up, Trading Post, Beach Bums, Shark’s Den, Island Time Tavern, The Growler and Gaffer’s. The E-Club, our home “nest” was a huge support as always. This year, we added an additional event on Sunday at 34 North in Cedar Point, and we hope this will become an ongoing part of the Crawl Weekend. There were approximately 350 participants at this year’s event on Saturday and a PHun time was had by all!! THANK YOU to everyone who participated, donated and otherwise supported Island Santa Bar Crawl 2021. We’ll see you the first weekend of December 2022 when we do it all over again!!

President’s Notes November 2021

“MELE KALIKIMAKA”

Represents Merry Christmas from the Island people in Hawaii. Did you know this song was made popular by Bing Crosby, the Andrew Sisters and Jimmy Buffett? Over time, Christmas songs are sung again and again, in the “new, old-fashioned way!” No matter what our age, when we hear them, we can’t help but sing along! Same thing happens with decorations! When we bring out the tree and hang our precious ornaments, we begin to remember past Christmases, filled with loved ones, lost and present, and are thankful.

In a world full of stress and anxiety, it’s time to search for things that help you celebrate the magic of Christmas. Whether its socially, spiritually, or just doing the unexpected, adjust your thoughts, appreciate what you do have, and go out and enjoy this holiday season! I know I am!

Hope to see you for the Santa Crawl for a weekend of phun benefiting Make-A-Wish, Eastern North Carolina, December 3 – 5. Visit our website or Facebook for additional info. This is a great way to MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY! Peace and Love Y’all! Jan H, President
