Hello Club Leaders:

It’s that time of year again for the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest.

We are proud to announce that the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest for 2019 is NOW OPEN!!!!!!

Summary of the PHiP Scholarship:

The PHiP Scholarship is for current Parrot Head Club Members of an officially Chartered Chapter or their children or wards of Parrot Head Club Members, for post secondary education.

This program was established in 2008. Three scholarships will be awarded in 2019. The funds may be used for tuition, books or living expenses, at an accredited four-year university or college of the student’s choice. The award will be paid to the winners school account, when a student account is established.

PHiP awards 3 awards in the amounts of:

First Place: $5,000
Second Place: $3,000
Third Place: $2,000

Eligibility: Parrot Head Club Members and members children (Sorry nieces, nephews or other extended family members beyond those mentioned are not considered eligible)

The Scholarship instructions and application can be found on the PHiP Website at:

It is VERY important the applicant follow ALL of the rules and instructions. Only typed, electronic submissions will be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered eligible.

Make no references to your identity, your local parrot head club or your location in your essay entry OR your question and statement responses.

All applications must be signed at the appropriate place. We accept electronic signatures.

Hello Parrot Heads:

It is the extreme honor of the 2018 PHiP Board of Directors to announce the winners of the 2018 scholarships. We would like to thank our judges for their hard work and efforts in reading each and every application. The applicants had to answer three questions as well as submit a blind essay (Explain a family, social, or school situation in which your leadership made a difference. What was accomplished? We received many applications and these fine judges had some very tough decisions to make.

Full congratulations go out to all our applicants and the board wishes each and every one of you good luck with your continued education. It was a very close decision and each of the winners should be very proud of what they do.

The winners of the 2018 scholarships are:

Emily Jo Scircle from Lexington, South Carolina (Palmetto Parrot Head Club) is the winner of the first place award of $5000.

Haley Davis from Austin, Arizona (Little Rock Parrot Head Club) is the winner of the second place award of $3000.

Raquel J Armas from Cicero, Illinois (Chicago Parrot Head Club) is the winner of the third place award of $2000.

Again, congratulations to the three winners and thank you to all that applied as well as our judges who took many hours out of their days to help in making this very tough decision.

Win A Windjammer Cruise While Helping The PHiP Scholarship

Windjammer has once again graciously donated a windjammer cruise to help benefit the PHiP Scholarship. You can buy these tickets individually or as a club donation to the scholarship (domino college recognition) and use this great prize for your fundraiser. Last years winner was a club and they are using their prize for their fundraiser at the end of this month.

Please pass this information around to all your club members. All are eligible to win whether they are going to MOTM or not. How about buying some chances as a club to use the prize for your clubs fund raiser?

Parrot Heads in Paradise have been awarding qualified parrot heads and their children a total of $10,000 in scholarships every year for the last 10 years. Fundraising has been just keeping pace with our pay-outs each year and we want to add some additional funds to ensure future years’ have adequate funding. To make sure that we can continue to award these gifts well into the future we have come up with a great way to help that cause. Windjammer cruises has donated a cruise for two to raffle off this year. We will be selling tickets via PayPal or check starting today. We will draw for the cruise Saturday, November 3rd from the stage at Meeting of the Minds for the seven night cruise on this beautiful boat. Winners do not need to be present at MOTM to win the cruise! Tickets are five for $20 or five dollars for one. I will send you via email with a list of your numbers so you have them for your records. I will be tracking the name and numbers of every ticket coming in and they will all be in Key West for the drawing. HEAR YE, HEAR YE, MEMBERS CAN NOW MAINTAIN THEIR OWN PROFILES

Each Emerald Isle Parrothead club member has a profile on our web site, which previously has been maintained by the club’s secretaries.Now we have added a feature that permits members to maintain their own personal profiles. All a member needs to do is go to the EIPHC web site  ( emeraldisleparrotheads.com); then on the top menu bar, mouse over onto the “Membership” option; then in the drop down window that appears, click on the option “Membership – Retrieve Account Link”; and you will get an email with your personalized data link that will take you to your individual member profile. There, you can maintain your own profile,  including adding your picture and  your interests and hobbies.  When you are finished with your updates, click on the “save” button and you are done.
