Emerald Isle Rescue Tube program

We recently learned that the trial program of placing rescue tubes at beach access points has been successful. A week or so ago, a 13 year old boy was rescued using one of these rescue tubes that had been donated by a private citizen.

The town of Emerald Isle, in an effort to make our beaches even safer, will be working to get the rescue tubes at more beach accesses by asking Home Owner Associations, individuals, and organizations to sponsor rescue tubes. They cost $90 and that includes purchase of the tubes, a stand and sign. The town will maintain and replace tubes as needed.   The PH Board has agreed to fund the purchase of three rescue tubes. Walk for a great cause!

Alzheimer’s Association Longest Day  – June 20 We are looking for a few more Parrot Heads!

Who:  For every Parrot Head/Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Crawl member who walks for an hour/mile the Club will sponsor for $10 and we are hoping for 30 volunteers to participate.  

What:  Walk in small groups on the beach from Zone 13 to Zone 1 then to the Western Regional Access between 10am and 6:30pm

Where:  Beach area of your choosing.  If you are Sea Turtle Patrol you can walk your Zone; if you are a PH…walk with friends/family.  We will set up a walking schedule.  

When:  Let us know that you are interested in walking and what time of day (between 10am and 6:30pm) you want to walk and for how long (one hour, one mile…or longer

ALZHEIMER’S FUNDRAISER – BBQ FOR BRAINS.  JUNE 27TH AT 12 NOON.   Yard sale, Bake Sale, BBQ plates, brain games, auction.    The fundraiser will be held at Blissful Boutiques next to the Bank of America in Swansboro.  BBQ plates will be $7.

June 5 is the First Friday PHlock!

Yea man, our next PHlocking is Friday, June the 5th.  The theme is Woodstock and the 60s.  Dudes and dudettes, here’s your opportunity to dress up in your favorite 60’s duds.

There will be games, dancing, and of course, a 50-50 raffle to benefit Martha’s MIssion Cupboard in Morehead City. We’re hanging a poster board so dig out an old photo of yourself or your parents from that magical era for all to enjoy and reminisce.  Maybe you were a look alike to a famous rock star.  Bring that photo too.  

So brush up on the dance styles of that ” decade of change” and be ready to rock and roll.  Club and BBPR event t-shirts will be on sale from 7pm to 8pm when the games begin.  Feel FREE to bring along whatever you liked to munch on when you got the munchies.  Please, no brownies.   Your hosts Marsha Horner, Rita Babich and Gigi Linder.
