2015 Anniversary Weekend Update

Got a few news items coming down the pipeline about the Phlocking/Island Party weekend.

August 7th Phlocking will be a Margaritaville Luau featuring DJ Rob with his usual selection of entertaining and danceable tunes.  Wear your best island Luau attire, or at least something wild and festive!

August 9th the Island Party will be going from 1:00 PM till about 5:00 PM.  Remember that this is a private party for Parrot Head Members and their guests.  Of course that doesn’t mean that you can’t make this your first event after joining.  Please click the link on our website just to the right of this post to get information about joining the club.  If you’re seeing this on one of our social media pages, please visit:

This page has information about becoming an Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club member and a link to a printable Membership Form that you can mail in along with your membership fee.

Keep safe out there and look for more updates on the Anniversary Weekend (or 13th Year) later this week.

August events preview

The club is busy making plans for our Parrot Head Club Anniversary Weekend, August 7-9.   Everyone should be looking for a fun weekend with a Phirst Phriday PHlocking on Friday (Aug. 7th) followed by our Anniversary Island Party (August 9th) out on Pelican Island.  Parrot Heads and friends will arrive by boat, kayak, canoe, or other(?) for a fun day in the sun and water with games, grllin’ & chillin’, and music by Dicky Scearce & Jack Ketner (A.K.A Scared of Kittens).  IMG_0826After the party was postponed last year because of bad weather and then cancelled because of more bad weather, we expect that the Phlock will be ready to party twice as hard and enjoy the anniversary weekend.  Look for more information coming soon here on the website and on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

Parrot Heads Participate to support Alzheimer’s Association

On 6/20, the Summer Solstice, the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club (EIPHC) joined forces with the Emerald Isle Turtle Protection Organization in support of the North Carolina Alzheimers Association’s Longest Day fund raiser.

Under the organization of EIPHC member, Susan Smith, who is also the state’s Alzheimers IMG_4614-LAmbassador, 29 Parrot Heads walked the EI beach from sunrise to sunset raising money and awareness for this devastating disease. Some participants raised their own sponsorships, while our club also pitched in $10 per member for their efforts!

EIPHC members comprised almost half the total walkers!  Hopefully we can do it again next year.

Report from the July 3rd Phlocking

IMG_7164Parrot Heads do it again with a great time had by all. Renee and her helpers hosted Christmas in July PHlocking at the E-Club to benefit the Animal Shelter.  We had a good turnout of folks who braved the heat and the threat of rain.   Flannery (her dog) watched over the goodies everyone brought for the Shelter; lots of dog and cat food and other assorted stuff! The 50/50 raffle netted $80 to help the shelter. Thanks for all the hard work Renee and thanks to all who contributed. Party with a Purpose once again!

July 2015 Phlocking – Christmas in July for our phurry phriends

IMG_0261This month’s Phlocking theme is Christmas in July, but instead of presents for the humans, we will be focusing on gifts for our animal friends.

We will be Phlocking on Friday July 3rd at the Emerald Club.  With the holiday weekend I’m sure it will be crowded there!

Dress in red and green, and bring an “unwrapped” donation of pet food, newspapers, pet toys, old sheets or towels, cleaning supplies. Donations will go to Carteret County Humane Society. Continue reading July 2015 Phlocking – Christmas in July for our phurry phriends
