Hello Parrot Heads! It is a holiday weekend and you can feel Summer in the air! Here is the current update for PHiP’s 28th Annual Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill!”

PHUN, PHREE STUFF…READ ON….

It as been a couple of weeks since I have sent you an email. In that time many sponsor deals have been discussed and soon you will be hearing all about the things that our sponsors are bringing to the event. You are going to get a great deal for your registration dollars from the event shirt, the many things that are going to be in your tropical Christmas stocking I mean gift bag, and the awesome entertainment… well I always like to add some tweaks to the music on the schedule or change something for the better as we get closer to the event. I will be telling you about all that as soon as the deals are in ink. When you get to PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds at the Casa Marina you are going to have a chance with great odds I might add to win some really cool stuff this year. A 27 mile jet ski tour off the beach, a Margaritaville frozen concoction maker, drawings to win a special main stage VIP viewing area for YOU and 5 of your PHriends! Here is YOUR update on PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill” in Key West, Florida!
Well here we are… it’s already the month of May! Jimmy Buffett concerts are happening and people are registering and booking travel for the 28th annual PHiP Meeting of the Minds in Key West!
Behind The Scenes There Is A Ton of Team Work Happening To Support The Event!
I want to tell you that even though you only hear a report every few weeks things are brewing to make PHiP’s MOTM 2019 one to remember but is that anything new? Everyone MOTM is special. I cannot share details yet as plans are in the works and special segment embellishments are being planned but you need to be in Key West for this one! You can see the online schedule https://www.phip.com/meeting-schedule which is a great entertainment deal already…and all the way until the day of the start of the event things will be in the works that will deliver way more entertainment than you paid for and you can take my word for it. I just had an hour-long call with Tall Paul yesterday about the 2019 Beachside Album Hour on Saturday at PHiP’s MOTM where the Jimmy Buffett album “License to Chill” will be played from beginning to end. I know you are familiar with that one and you can only imagine how many guests there will be with backing from most of the Coral Reefer Band as well as other guest musicians. You have to be registered to see all these special events at the Casa Marina!

Want to stay at the CASA MARINA RESORT during PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds? We are currently sold out at the Casa but you can get on the wait list by simply emailing our Director of Registration Rick Fyffe at rjfyffe1@ymail.com  Cancellations usually happen all the way up to the event start so go register for the event  and email Rick to get on the wait list. As a note you MUST be registered for PHiP’s MOTM to get on the wait list for the Casa.
PHiP’s MOTM Charity Gift Basket Raffle

Here is a note from our charity raffle basket leadership team of Joe and Lorene: By now we’ve sent out an e-mail to all clubs and we hope you’ve had the opportunity to discuss it with your committees.  The e-mail was concerning a gift basket donation representing your club to the PHiP’s MOTM charity gift basket raffle. As you may or may not be aware all monies raised from the ticket sales for the gift basket raffle are donated to charities in the Key West area as we have no expenses thanks to our generous volunteers. There are many deserving charities and that makes the decision by the PHiP board more challenging but they take on this daunting task at the conclusion of each year’s MOTM and deserving charities benefit. We can’t say this enough, but we do want to say it one more time. Between the wonderful basket donations and the MOTM basket raffle volunteers with their dedication to hard work and the fun that we have when we get together as we  PARTY WITH A PURPOSE the gift basket raffle is something that we so look forward to being involved with each and every year. We want to thank each and every one of you in advance. QUESTIONS?  If you’ve got ‘em, please don’t hesitate to ask ‘em. we may not know all the answers but we do know who to ask. April 2019 Tradewind Times is now online!

The Second Quarter 2019 edition of the Tradewind Times is now available on line and ready for reading and sharing! In this issue you will find the always anticipated “State of the Phlock” with details about how awesome you all did last year! President Kathy Pfister has some great words of wisdom for us all!  There is also the Top 20 Clubs list with those clubs that have the most members.

There is information about MOTM 2019, “License to Chill”, from Andrew Talbert, an article about how PHIP did with the National Alzheimer’s Walk Team, plus the standard quarterly financial reports, Domino College, regional events and club birthdays.

Hello Parrot Heads! Here is your PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds “License to Chill” Update!
Casa Marina and the Reach Resort Update
The Casa Marina is currently sold out for Meeting of the Minds 2019. There are usually a few cancellations through the year due to “life gets in the way” so if you want a room there is an easy way to get on our Casa Marina wait-list!      
It is VERY SIMPLE:  Send an email to our Director of Registration Rick Fyffe at: rjfyffe1@ymail.com and tell him you want to be added to the waitlist for the Casa Marina. Please put “Casa Wait List Request” in your email title and be sure to give Rick your contact details for the hotel staff if a room opens. That is it!  You will be added to the Casa Marina MOTM wait list for 2019.
I will give you a quick update on the Reach Resort status during PHiP’s MOTM 2019. The Reach will be undergoing construction and upgrades during MOTM 2019. The Reach will not be accepting reservations for MOTM as the upgrade is happening during our dates. I just received this news two days ago so you are hearing this almost as soon as I am.This is all I know at this time.

A Great Way To Help The PHiP Scholarship

IT’S BACK! THE TRIP OF THE YEAR! Windjammer has once again graciously donated a windjammer cruise to help benefit the PHiP Scholarship. You can buy these tickets individually or as a club donation to the scholarship (domino college recognition) and use this great prize for your fundraiser. DETAILS OF THE CRUSE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.
Please pass this information around to all your club members. All are eligible to win whether they are going to MOTM or not. How about buying some chances as a club to use the prize for your clubs fund raiser?
Parrot Heads in Paradise have been awarding qualified parrot heads and their children a total of $10,000 in scholarships every year for the last 10 years. Fundraising has been just keeping pace with our pay-outs each year and we want to add some additional funds to ensure future years’ have adequate funding. To make sure that we can continue to award these gifts well into the future we have come up with a great way to help that cause. Windjammer cruises has donated a cruise for two to raffle off this year. We will be selling tickets via PayPal or check starting today. We will draw for the cruise Saturday, November 2nd from the stage at Meeting of the Minds for the seven night cruise on this beautiful boat. Winners do not need to be present at MOTM to win the cruise! Tickets are five for $20 or five dollars for one. I will send you via email with a list of your numbers so you have them for your records. I will be tracking the name and numbers of every ticket coming in and they will all be in Key West for the drawing. PHiP Scholarship Closes on March 31st

It’s that time of year again for the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest. Please pass this information along to your club members. You can cut and paste this email and include it in your email you send out to your members. This is the only way that your members will know of this great opportunity and we need you as leaders to make sure that this information gets out to each and every one of them. This is a wonderful opportunity for your members and their families. Please forward this email to you club at least once a month for the next three months in your clubs communications. This is a great opportunity that we want all eligible students to take advantage of. Thanks in advance for helping to get the word out and good luck to all the applicants.

We are proud to announce that the PHiP Scholarship Essay Contest for 2019 is NOW OPEN!!!!!!

Summary of the PHiP Scholarship:

The PHiP Scholarship is for current Parrot Head Club Members of an officially Chartered Chapter or their children or wards of Parrot Head Club Members, for post secondary education.

This program was established in 2008. Three scholarships will be awarded in 2019. The funds may be used for tuition, books or living expenses, at an accredited four-year university or college of the student’s choice. The award will be paid to the winners school account, when a student account is established.

PHiP awards 3 awards in the amounts of:

First Place: $5,000
Second Place: $3,000
Third Place: $2,000

Hello Everyone!
Here is a quick update on PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill” in Key West, Florida!
The 2019 Meeting of the Minds schedule will be online in a couple of weeks! The schedule is almost complete!! The ink is drying on some contracts and the phone bank is still working overtime. This year will deliver some awesome entertainment!! Standby for full details!!
The host hotel is over two thirds full already and room types will start getting scarce very soon. Do not delay to get a Casa reservation if you are planning to stay at the host hotel!
Remember if you book a room at the Casa Marina you need to go register for PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds. YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED FOR MOTM TO STAY AT THE CASA MARINA! Only credentialed guests will be allowed into the Casa Marina property during the event.
A GREAT DRAWING FOR EARLY REGISTRATION!! GREAT ODDS OF WINNING!!

PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds 2019 Update

Hello Everyone!
It’s almost February and the days are getting a little longer. I hope you are staying warm for now and thinking of tropical times later this year! We want YOU in Key West in November! Here is a quick update on PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill” in Key West, Florida!
The planning portion of PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds for 2019 is well underway. As I write this I am talking to artists and putting together some entertainment that will be the deal of the year for a Parrot Head. Standby for all that schedule information as the artist contracts come together over the next month or so.
In the mean time I want you to know that the gift bag stuffing party is almost full so don’t wait if you want in on that party. After we “fill the room” we cannot add people. Register now to get in on the bag stuffing party!
The host hotel is 75% full already and room types will start getting scarce very soon. Do not delay to get a Casa reservation if you are planning to stay at the host hotel!
