February (Valentine’s) Phlocking report

If you didn’t make it to our February Phlocking celebration of Valentine/Heart Day, you missed one heck of a party with about 150 attending! The Emerald Club favored us with a grand assortment of chicken wings from Eddie at Piggly Wiggly complemented by various sweets prepared by our very own Parrot Heads.  DJ Rob got us all on the dance floor with a variety of songs from the past to the present and dancing the Cupid Shuffle was a highlight!  Oh Yeah! And how about the “Crazy Hearts” game and our talented participants? The lucky winning pair, Lindsey and Clint, won chocolates of course and announced that they were recently married so we helped them celebrate!  Our 50/50 winner and favorite bartender, Matt, won $67. Since February represents National Heart Month, the American Heart Association was chosen as our charity and, after additional donations were made later, a contribution of $80 was made. So if you missed the fun this month, don’t worry, you can catch up at the next Phlocking on March 6!  Who knows what’s in store?

February Phlocking this Friday

Let’s celebrate the joy of having loved ones! In their honor, RED Day means you need to wear your favorite red and white (pink will work also). Cover your body from head to toe or just one item will do, but be ready to pay a price if you don’t have red or pink displayed and receive a reward if you do! Our DJ Rob will have a variety of tunes (sprinkled with love songs) to treat us. There will be a game for those of you who love a challenge and our usual 50/50 raffle. And of course, you can’t celebrate having a valentine(s) without something sweet on hand! So, to celebrate further we need a table/buffet full of cookies/sweets from your favorite recipe. For those of you who would like to contribute, please contact me (Jan) at janhicks2014@gmail.com , or just bring it to the event! The E Club will be serving wings to compliment! Bring your sweetheart, loved one, family or friend and celebrate with us! Xoxo!

Hope 4 Holly

Hope 4 Holly Fundraiser flyerYou have probably already heard that a young (29)  local woman  and nurse with 2 young children has ovarian cancer and the community is rallying around this family.  The Emerald Club is hosting the first fundraiser on Saturday January 17th starting with a Community Yard Sale from 8 am to Noon (at the E-Club), Barbeque Plates for $8 (food donated by the E-Club and Piggly Wiggly) from 11 AM to 2PM, 50/50 raffle, plus 4 bands starting at 5 PM (cover is $10)   All cover, tips and proceeds will be donated to Hope 4 Holly.  (see attached flyer).  How can the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Nation help?   We need items to be donated for the yard sale, shop at the yard sale, work at the yard sale, sell and purchase raffle tickets, help with serving BBQ, come and eat and listen to some great bands who are donating their time for this cause.   Donated items for the yard sale can be brought to 117 Arthur Dr. Emerald Isle (on the ocean side, off Craig St.)  Contact Travis at 252-503-1571 for info or donation pick up.  You know we have 387 members in our Club right now and we can have a major impact on this fundraiser so let’s get out the Parrot Power.  Check the flyer for more details and we will keep you posted on Facebook as well.

New Info for Yard Sale Item Drop Off!
The Emerald Club now has a storage trailer so you can drop off any items there.  If someone is in the Club, you can let them know and if not (if they are not open) you can leave the items outside the storage container if it is locked and they will check periodically to load items.   Date of event is Saturday, January 17th. Several of you have asked about clothing donations and yes they will have a table for good used clothing.
