Hello phellow parrotheads, many of you heard from us via email this past winter (seems like a year ago, doesn’t it?).  We had a great time at last year’s basket raffle and are looking forward to 2017 being bigger and better. There were many baskets telling stories and yes bragging about their area and club. It was like being in a parrot head garden and we loved it. The question that we are asked the most often is: “Where does the money go? “The money that was raised last year will be given away directly to charities selected by the PHIP board the next year. Besides the money raised from the raffle, PHiP will add to this total with proceeds from MOTM registration when possible to donate to local charities. The 501(c)3 organizations in the Key West area have benefited greatly from your basket donations and our team selling tickets. You will be getting more information from us down the road. Calling All Parrot Heads!!! Put On Your Walking Shoes and Help Us Stomp Out Breast Cancer!!!We’re calling all Parrot Heads to come out and walk with us as “Team Parrot Head” 2017 to help raise money for a local Key West organization. The Zonta Club of Key West will be having their annual “ABC 5K Run/Walk” on Saturday, November 4, 2017.  The event raises money to cover mammograms, thin-prep pap tests, and other diagnostic and preventive measures for women in the Lower Keys, which has some of the highest incidence of breast cancer because so many workers living here have no healthcare coverage. The Zonta Club of Key West online registration link to participate in the 2017 ABC 5K Walk/Run is at: https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/KeyWest/ZontaABC5K

When asked if you are a parrot head, put “yes” and the drop down box will have a place for you to type the name of your parrot head club. Remember to put the complete name of your parrot head club on the registration form. If you are registered prior to MOTM for the Zonta walk/race ..stop by the Team “Parrot Head”… Zonta Registration Table on Thursday November 2, 2017(outside the mini-mart) and pick up your walk/race packet. You can also register here too, if not already registered. We will have our “Pink Wheel” again this year on Thursday at the Team “Parrot Head” table.  You can “Spin” for $1.00 to win one of the prizes on the wheel, and get a ticket to be placed in the drawing for our “Grand Prize”.  All proceeds benefit Team “Parrot Head” 2017. 1. Register for Meeting of the Minds 2017.

REMEMBER YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR MEETING OF THE MINDS 2017 TO STAY AT THE CASA MARINA OR BE ON THE WAIT LIST FOR THE CASA.

1. Book your room at the Reach Resort. While our awesome Parrot Head rate is only valid at the Casa Marina the Reach is offering a discount to our group this year. This Reach Resort rate will not be as low as the Casa rate but it is a booking discount. There are some Casa Marina cancellations every year so booking early will put you up the list as we do go in order to move people over as vacancy happens through the year. This can happen right up to the event so give the hotel your cell number not your home number for contact!

Put in the title of your email “MOTM Casa Marina Wait List.” Tell Rick you are booked at the Reach and registered for MOTM.  Rick will add you to the Casa Marina wait list in the order in which you contact him.

We have to fill the Casa Marina so we will work very hard to move everyone we can as cancellations occur. We will be working down the order in which you reply to Rick Fyffe. Sorry for any confusion but it is best to manage this list through Rick vs. contacting the hotel.
