2023 PHLUFF UP THE PHLOCK

Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club

Phluff Up the Phlock

 Annual Membership Meeting

January 10, 2023

The annual meeting of the “Phluff Up the Phlock” Membership Meeting will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 6 pm, in the home of Lois Gray, 6717 Ocean Drive, Emerald Isle, NC.  All club members are invited.  If you have not already paid your dues, you may pay them at the meeting.

The main purpose of the meeting is to select and vote upon members for the Board of Directors and Members at Large, and to schedule major events and the people (Big Birds) to head up each one. Please review our BYLAWS at www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com for information and qualifications of officers prior to the meeting. They are found in the Menu, under “Membership.”

In addition, attendees will be given the Annual Report by Betty Strader, turned in each year to PHIP, Inc., which will reflect all events, monies donated for each, and grand totals for 2022 donations.  Among others, we will also hear from Joel Dunn regarding our technical capabilities, including Website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

2022 has been an exciting year for our Club and next year will be here before we know it. If you are interested in being a part of 2023 as an Officer, Big Bird, Committee Chairman, or Phlocking Big Bird, please join us! If you just want to come and be a part of the planning, you are welcome. A  list of Board Members and Members at Large are listed on our Website and in any of our 2022 Newsletters. Come help us ring in the NEW YEAR! Jan H., Prez

PRESIDENT’S NOTES, DECEMBER 2022

TRADITION!!!

Ummm, that turkey sure was delicious, right? But, why do some of us feel obligated to try just a “little bite” of everything else on the table, the counter, the fridge, or grill? TRADITION! Even though the world is spinning around us with all kinds of news, good and bad, Thanksgiving reminds us to slow down and enjoy life and be grateful for every day. It’s a time to remember and enjoy the traditions of our past, even though some have left us, and to make new ones with the family and friends we love today!

The Emerald Isle Christmas Parade has been a TRADITION here for 19 years and the Emerald Isle Parrot Heads have loved being a part of it.  Weeks before the parade, we joined together to play, work, and build a float! We thank all who contributed to it! Betty Strader and Jean Jensen were our Big Birds in charge.  They pushed through it, never gave up, and with the help of their minions, a beautiful and elegant float emerged.  I was happy and proud to ride upon it in the parade and couldn’t believe the sea of people that came to see us and the other holiday-themed entries! Happy and thankful faces were everywhere! What a great TRADITION for ALL!

We’re not done yet! There are a few newer TRADITIONS coming up shortly from the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club that benefit MAKE-A-WISH ENC!  The kick-off party starts Friday, December 2, at 7 pm at the Emerald Club.  On Saturday, December 3, beginning at 1 pm, the Island Santa Bar Crawl comes to us, full of spectacular foolery! Wait, you must also join us on Sunday for our FINAL TRADITION at 77 West, beginning at 12 noon to enjoy the BLOODY MARY CONTEST and THE LIVE ONLINE AUCTION! The details of these events can be found on our website and Facebook page! All Parrot Head events are open to the PUBLIC. We hope you will join our club and make one or all of these events a TRADITION of your own! Phins up Y’all! Jan H., Prez

President’s Notes October, 2022

BOO!!! Happy Halloween! Get ready for everything “Make Believe!” Guess that’s why I love this holiday! It’s a time when grown-ups and kids are out and about attending trunk-a-treats, costume contests, and Halloween parties! We all get to act and look silly, although most of us don’t need a reason! Watch out for the Princess and the Prince, the Goblins and Witches, and many of our favorite storybook characters! Stay safe and have a great time whatever your plans are!

After Halloween is over, please be sure to visit our website www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com and our Facebook Page, Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club, to view many more “Treats!” These events are open to the public.  If you like dressing up, you can register on our WEBSITE, UNDER THE MENU entitled “Register for Santa Crawl and Buy T-shirts in the Shop.”  Be sure to read the current Newsletter for additional information! See you soon as we “Party With a Purpose!” Jan H, Prez

President’s Notes September 2022

Hello my phriends! As I write,  I am experiencing memories of our past storms because Hurricane Ian is all over the news.  My memories are good and bad, happy and sad, but mostly thankful for the way everyone in our community, our family, friends, neighbors, businesses and charities worked together to reach out and help each other in so many wonderful ways toward restoration. My thoughts are also with those who are in Ian’s path and pray for their safety! Our club stands ready to send aid to help others that may be affected.

In the meantime, this too shall pass, and we will once again look forward to the many events we have planned to finish out our year.  Be sure to check out our Newsletter and our calendar of events found on www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com and the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Facebook page.  Stay safe all! See you soon! Phins up! Jan Hicks, Pres.
