President’s Notes January 2020

What better way to start off the New Year than to have an opportunity to see Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band live in concert! Open your mind and let the phantasy begin. Come hear the stories in his music about life, people, friends, society and relationships. It’s a special lifetime event. No where will you ever be as welcomed by complete strangers! Everyone is there to have a good time!

Jimmy is playing at Walnut Creek in Raleigh for his 26th concert in that venue on April 18, 2020. This tour is called the “Slack Tide Tour” and promises to bring lots of phun and surprises! If you’ve never been or if you’ve been to all 26, each concert evolves into a creature of its own and one you will never forget. As you know, Parrot Heads are a different culture and our festivities can’t be compared to any other. Phlocks roam the parking lots visiting others tailgating, 75% of the crowd looks like they’re tourists in Hawaii, Beach Balls fly over and on you during the entire time, T-shirts get blown into the audience as far as the lawn, and the band is truly amazing. This includes the entire band, not just Jimmy…so much talent! Whether you are young or “vintage” this is the time to go!

See me or Jessi Holland at the phlocking on Friday, February 7, at E-Club beginning at 7 p.m. for additional information or to purchase a bus ticket and we’ll “Party with a Purpose!” Jan H.

PHLUFF UP THE PHLOCK 2020

The Phluffing was a phun time for visiting and working together as we planned 2020!  A big “Thank You” to our 2019 Board and Committee members for their countless hours of service and a warm “Welcome” to our newly elected 2020 Board and Committee members for their promise of a successful new year!  Here’s a special “Thank You” to all of our volunteers in all capacities for the time and effort you will give to make this year another great year to remember as we “Party with a Purpose!”

RESERVE YOUR BUFFETT CONCERT TICKETS NOW! DEADLINE JAN. 15

This offer is for EIPHC members only. DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS: 1/15/2020
Under the menu section of our website “Reservations for 4/18 Buffett Concert”, you can now reserve inside tickets, lawn tickets and bus trip tickets for the upcoming Buffett concert in Raleigh on April 18, 2020, and be obligated to pay later. Our bus seats only 47 and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Jimmy doesn’t come every year so if you want to see what he’s all about, this is your chance! Did I mention that parking lot tailgating and shenanigans is as much phun as the concert?  See you there!  Jan H.

Jimmy’s coming to Walnut Creek April 18th

Time Sensitive information: If you have not heard already, Jimmy Buffett will be doing a concert in Walnut Creek (Raleigh) on April 18th (Saturday). As in the past, Parrot Head Club members can purchase inside tickets to sit with other Parrot Head Clubs. You of course have the option of purchasing tickets directly for lawn or inside seats (but we may be able to purchase lawn seats through the club in bulk but don’t have the price yet)….but if you want to guarantee yourself an inside seat, you can commit to tickets through our club. I am not positive but we usually have this opportunity before the tickets go on sale publically. It always is a very short turnaround to get our numbers into the National Club (Parrot Heads in Paradise PHIP) and we just got word so get your calendars out and see if it works for you.

Tickets purchased through Parrot Heads (national PHIP) will cost $150.25. Because these are earmarked seats, we must let the National folks know by January 17th, which means you must let us know by January 15th (Wednesday) how many tickets you wish to purchase. You can either sign up at the January PHlocking (oh yeah, that is tonight) or you can email me at stonesend@gmail.com, to get on the list, but be sure you want tickets as once we submit the list to national, you are responsible for paying for the tickets, once we know they have been reserved.

A few folks have asked about a bus and Jan did check, we have tentatively reserved a bus for 47 and the cost would be approximately $40 per person. One hitch, we need one person to be the coordinator and 2-3 Parrot Head volunteers to help put together the trip with bus, coordinate tickets, secure payment for tickets etc. We can only get tickets if we have a Ticket Coordinator and we need someone to work with the Ticket Coordinator to put in place the bus part of the event. Know everyone who went last time loved the bus, concert and fun. Not a big job to put together but we do need someone to spearhead the concert event. See you all tonight and look for the sign up sheet. We will try to answer questions but it will be a busy night with collection of annual dues so be patient.

President’s Notes December 2019

“Life is a journey that’s measured not in miles or years but in experiences” says Jimmy. Thank you all for your support as we sailed through 2019, with great phun, great phriends and great events! We shared our forever moments of complete insanity partying on the beach, biking from bar to bar with over 300 bikers, enjoying bus trips to brewery and cheering at our favorite ball games, cleaning beaches and highways, and phlocking together on our Phriday nights! These represent a few experiences but there’s lots more we celebrate with you each year while we strive to help our causes and community be even better than the year before!

As we approach the New Year, it’s time to set our sails for new adventures! With 570 members, we will make a positive difference by continuing to show our love for where we live, the laid-back life we live, and the crazy and wonderful people we know! Your membership is greatly appreciated and the dues you pay help make this club successful.

Now, all you Parrot Heads get out there, do what you do best, and “Party with a purpose!” The EIPHC ship sails again in January 2020 and I hope to see you on it! Be safe and Happy New Year! Jan H., President
