President’s Notes October 2021

PHAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!

We love the beach all year round, but there is really something special about it this time of year. We are grateful for the reduction of boat and car traffic and less wait lines. The mornings are cooler, the days are mostly warm, and the nights are better with the windows up. We’re surrounded by cookouts, festivals, fishing tournaments and charity walk/run events. There’s plenty to do outside and EIPHC is adding to the PHun this PHall!

We’ll be celebrating the “comeback” of the EI Christmas Parade on November 27, and will be putting together a float, gathering a bunch of parade participants and collecting candy for tossing. Next, comes our second annual fundraiser, fondly known as the Island Santa Bar Crawl. We are excited about several new and fun ways to enjoy the 2-day event on December 4 and December 5. So, PHluff up your PHeathers, get ready to PHlock, and we’ll see you at our November 5 PHlocking. Stay updated by visiting our website at www.emeraldisleparrotheads.com. PHINS UP YA’LL and HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Jan H., President

“LET’S RAISE THE WOOF” Phlocking

Friday, November 5, 7:00 pm, Emerald Club
Let’s celebrate our favorite pets! Wear a picture of your most loved pet(s) pinned, taped, glued or stapled to your shirt, hat or pants! Dog and cat fur is welcomed too! You don’t have to own the pet, but you do have to love it! Maybe you’re its grandparent, aunt, uncle, or neighbor. Doesn’t matter, just have phun with it!
The 50/50 raffle will support Misplaced Mutts, a non-profit volunteer-based organization, dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats in shelters and less than ideal home situations. They are based out of our own Carteret County and operate through a network of foster homes. We would also like to ask for donations of new dog toys, new or clean used towels and beds, and cat and dog food. Any brand is appreciated, but mostly they use “4 Health Adult & Puppy” from Tractors Supply and “Purina One” or “Proplan” for cats. All donations will be delivered the next day!
So, doggonit, strut on out and have a purr-fectly good time while you paws with fellow Parrot Heads and admire their 4-legged friends. Also, a big “shout out” to Matt at the E-Club for providing free food and live music. Hope to see you there!

President’s Notes, September 2021

“Fallin’ for Fall!”

It’s time to fall in love with Fall all over again! Watching my favorite football teams, indulging in pumpkin spice lattes, snuggling up under my blankets with a good book,  and enjoying crisp walks and bike rides are just a few of my favorites. What does your list look like? Get inspired by being productive and  listing the things you look forward to this Autumn! While you’re at it, be sure to add to your list our October, November, and December monthly PHlockings held at the E-Club, beginning at 7 pm, on the first Friday of every month! We are always looking for new Parrot Heads and would love meeting you!

In addition, visit our website frequently www.emeraldiseparrotheads.com! Although the monthly newsletter is emailed to members, there are times it can be easily missed or may get lost. The EIPHC website and calendar are updated routinely to include the “latest and greatest” news and events. Our Facebook page is another great source for information regarding EIPHC.

As we look forward to our future, we again say “Thank You” for hanging in here during this pandemic and helping us continue to be one of the largest Parrot Head Clubs and the best Parrot Head Club in the world! Every day brings us another opportunity to “Party with a Purpose” Y’all! Jan H., President

OCTOBER PHLOCKING, FRIDAY OCTOBER 1, 2021

The annual Tutus for Tatas walk (AKA – Diva Walk) will unfortunately not be held this year, but our October Phlocking will be your opportunity to bring out the pink tutus and all things PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We will have pink ribbons available for a $5 donation that can be displayed on our Hope Wall 2021. Ribbons can be decorated, personalized or left blank, and there will be an official “pinning ceremony” in front of Movement Mortgage on October 9, 2021 at 11:00am. There will also be a silent auction for a special “All Things Pink” basket designed by EIPHC President Jan Hicks. Matt will welcome us to the EClub with live music by Captain Dick and the Lost Seamen and of course FREE FOOD!! We’d be “Tickled Pink” to see all of you at the EClub at 7pm on Friday, October 1, 2021.
