President’s Notes July 2019
17th Anniversary, Alive and Well!
While some of you reading this article were young children when this club began in 2002, others of you were here getting it started! Imagine how different we and the surrounding areas would be without it…no charity events and fundraisers, no area cleanups, no phlockings, and no new parrot head friends! Need I say more? It’s easy to see the importance of keeping the Parrot Head Nation and EIPHC active and strong for generations to come.
We are way beyond just partying together! We reap the benefits of having young and old (oldish) birds working together to form a strong force with common goals that benefit everyone! Like Jimmy, we love flip flops, the ocean, our walks in the sand, soaking up the sun and breathing the salty air. We all realize life is good and meant to be appreciated. We take responsibility for the welfare of the beautiful people and treasures surrounding us and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve them! Come join us this weekend at the E-Club for our Friday Phlocking on 8/2 at 7 pm and Anniversary Party on Sunday 8/4 at l pm and raise your glass as we continue to “pass the torch” and “party with a purpose!” Together let’s reminisce about the past as we look forward to the future! Meeting of the Minds IMPORTANT SCHEDULE UPDATE!
Hello Parrot Heads! Here is the latest update and a NEW announcement that has been in the works for months for PHiP’s 28th Annual Meeting of the Minds 2019 “License to Chill in Key West, Florida.
First Coral Reefer Mac McAnally’s set is moving to Thursday night! The Key West Beach Party with Nashville’s James T Slater followed non-stop by Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band is moving to Saturday night! Brendan Mayer’s set is being expanded to two hours to allow for more guests and music!
Now I want to tell you about the Peter Mayer Group’s special two-hour show on Friday night at PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds! This show concept has been in the works for months and is just getting better as we approach the event. Now it is time to tell you all about it!
FIRST Peter Mayer is inviting all of the Coral Reefer Band into his set for various parts on Friday night.
NEXT this concert is going to be recorded for a LIVE ALBUM from the stage in Key West at PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds on Friday night. The details of how to purchase this recording and even more details will be coming as we get closer to the event.
FINALLY… Not only is Peter working on a special set of music there will be a FOUR-PIECE STRING SECTION COMING IN FROM MIAMI and performing on this set.
Those of you who are veterans of Peter’s shows know he sometimes uses string sections on his recordings. On this night in Key West you will get to see and hear that live and in person!
It will be a party with the Peter Mayer Group, Coral Reefers, and special original music withsome Beatle’s tracks rocking the stage. YOU need to be there!

It’s our Club’s 17th Anniversary!!!… Come help us celebrate at Phlocking, Friday August 2nd and “No Boat Required” island party, August 4th.
Matt Morel and Emerald Club will be hosting EIPHC’s annual Luau. In true tradition, Matt will have a pig pickin’ and cold drink specials, as well as, Corona reps dishin’ swag! Party starts at 7:00 Friday, August 2nd at the Eclub.
Also, that Sunday, August 4th at 1:00 we will be having our Annual Island party at the Eclub! Celebrate 17 years of Party With a Purpose right back where it all began! Although a different venue, we’re not giving up the “Island” theme! Swim suits are welcomed. Pools, water games and more! Music, hamburgers and hotdogs are provided. You are invited to bring a side dish or snack, a lawn chair, a tent and guests. This day is for you!

Community Fundraiser Saturday July 13th
Please join your community on Saturday, July 13th at 2 PM at the Emerald Club for a double fundraising event This fundraiser will be to help with expenses for the surviving family members of the recently deceased Vicki Williamson Huehner and Carrie Almeida Haskett in this time of need. $10 barbeque plates! “HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA” JULY PHLOCKING
Yes, it’s our great nation’s birthday the week of our phlocking set for Friday, July 5, at the E-Club, Emerald Isle, NC, beginning at 7 p.m. There’s no better way to celebrate than with a party thrown by our phlock as we “Party with a Purpose!” Lots of fun is in store, including free food and music provided by Matt and a couple of way-out wacky games for those who love to win prizes! Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle are going to Fairways for Warriors, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission statement is to support combat wounded warriors to help with their physical and emotional rehabilitation. This is accomplished by using the fun and challenging sport of golf. Funds raised by EIPHC will be designated for combat veterans and their families in Onslow and Carteret Counties. Visit their website at www.fairwaysforwarriors.org to learn more. Our new club t-shirts will be making their debut but won’t last long, so hurry up and buy one! Cindy New, Big Bird, has a July 5 birth date so come wish her a happy birthday as well! Let’s do this!

“One Particular Harbor,” it’s a magic kind of medicine that no doctor could prescribe!
The harbor is right here and EIPHC contributes to its magic each year! Our membership continues to grow as we welcome new members and invite them to get involved in our many projects. Our fundraising efforts have magnified with the help from our wonderful and giving membership and the support of our surrounding community. We are something special because we love to party, give our time and money to the people who live around us and need our help, and do it with enthusiasm! The next few months will be busy so be sure to read your newsletter and mark your calendar. You won’t want to miss a thing!
Now into July we go with visions of making 2019 the best year ever, and we’ll continue to do what we do best, “Party with a Purpose!” I hope to celebrate America’s birthday with you at the PHAbulous PHLocking on July 5, beginning at 7 p.m., at the E-Club! See you there! Jan H.
